Lisa---"Where Moths and Rust Can Destroy"

Greetings everyone!  Hope things are going well with all of you.  I am sure everyone is wondering what we have been up to since Jessica last wrote--haha!  I'm sure not but here goes.  I want to update you on how plans are progressing for our move.

Marty and the girls went to the DR in January and had a great time.  They were able to reconnect with some old friends and meet some new ones.  I asked Marty and Jessica when they got back home if they were able to picture our lives there.  I got almost the same response from both of them--mild panic attack as they arrived on Saturday--"What are we thinking??? Is this where God has called us to be??"  It didn't take long for God to reaffirm our calling to the DR and to give them a calm and peace about our move.  One of the things on the to-do list was to find some place for us to lay our head when we arrive in a couple of months.  What I can tell you about that is we have some options but no address at this time.  God however is so faithful and I know he has the perfect place for us already chosen.

We have begun the visa process and we ask for your prayers as we get the things together that we need.  I know Marty wrote last month about the challenges going on in the DR right now.  Thanks for your prayers for the people there as well as for the people we will need to interact with to get our visas approved.  We will keep you updated on this process as we know more.

It would be easy to end right here, having given you an update of our to-do list, asked for prayers and sign off till next time. I want to share with you some of the things that God has been speaking to my heart the past few weeks.  I am rereading a book that we received just before Erin left for her World Race.  It is called Kingdom Journeys and was written by Seth Barnes who began sending young adults out to serve in the World Race.  It is a great book about answering the calling in your life and how important it is for some people to make a kingdom journey to find who they are and where they are to serve in this life.  I am so excited about  my kingdom journey to the DR.  Now I realize that I am much older than the young adults who go on these trips--no comments from the peanut gallery--but I believe the concept is the same at any age.  God is calling me to go and serve and not ask a lot of questions about the how and where.  I have learned much about trust while preparing for this adventure.  We have more questions than answers and will be taking with us what we need in about 6 suitcases and 3 carry-ons between the 3 of us.  We are still having conversations about what we each feel is important to take with us--opinions are varying as you can imagine.  It is exciting to sit back, look at what you have in your home and make decisions about what is really necessary.  Scripture tells us not to store up treasures for ourselves on earth where moths and rust can destroy but to store up treasures in heaven.  That is my prayer that as we go through and pick what we need to take, that we will be leaving the U.S. with the bare minimum of "stuff" but a willing heart and spirit for God to use us has He sees fit, knowing that He is enough to supply our every need.  That is what the Lord is teaching me--rely on Him and don't worry about the "stuff"--He will provide.  I will let you all know later what made the cut to start our kingdom journey!  Thanks for all of your love and support!
